Joe Taylor's second-half brace propelled Huddersfield Town to a commanding 4-1 victory over Peterborough United at the Accu Stadium on Tuesday. The win lifts Town to second place in the League One table, now on 22 points from 11 games.
Ilias Bronkhorst gave the Terriers a perfect start, firing home after just three minutes. The first half failed to ignite further, but Taylor took over after the break. He levelled the scoreline in the 66th minute, then added a second just four minutes later to complete his double. Harry Leonard pulled one back for Posh in between, but Bali Mumba restored the three-goal cushion late on.
Head coach Martin Drury reserved special praise for Taylor, whose eight goals this season make him the club's top scorer. "Probably the most pleasing thing for me tonight about Joe was he knew at half-time the first half wasn't what we were after," Drury said. "I thought the way he responded second half, I thought he was outstanding, and just a constant threat, so hard to play against."
Drury was also impressed with the quality of the finishes. "I'm pleased to see the quality of his finishes, because I thought both were really, really good finishes," he added. "They're situations that we want to get Joe in more and more."
The result extends Huddersfield's impressive recent form to four wins and a draw from their last five league outings. They have scored 22 goals this campaign while conceding only 10, giving them the division's second-best goal difference.
Attention now turns immediately to Saturday's home fixture against Wigan Athletic, who currently sit bottom of the league. The quick turnaround offers a chance to build further momentum at the top end of the table.
