Four men were arrested by West Yorkshire Police during Huddersfield Town's 3-0 League One victory at Bradford City on Saturday. The off-field incidents occurred before and during the sold-out West Yorkshire derby at Valley Parade.
West Yorkshire Police confirmed the arrests in a statement. "Four men were arrested in connection with separate incidents during the policing operation," the force said. Three of the arrests took place outside the ground before the 12:30 GMT kick-off, with one further arrest occurring during the match itself.
Those detained included a 45-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker, a 23-year-old man for a suspected public order offence, an 18-year-old man for being drunk and disorderly, and a 52-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting a steward. Police have not released further details, and the investigation is ongoing.
A significant police operation was in place, with dozens of officers, including mounted units, deployed along routes to keep rival fans apart. Huddersfield supporters were escorted from Bradford Interchange and gathered near the Bradford Arms before being taken to the stadium under supervision after home fans had entered.
On the pitch, the Terriers extended their lead at the top of the League One table to two points with a commanding performance. Joseph Low opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and two quick goals after half-time from Derensili Sanches Fernandes and Joe Taylor sealed the win. Bradford's Antoni Sarcevic was sent off during the match. The 3-0 victory on Saturday 31 October was the latest in a sequence of four wins and a draw, a run that includes a 2-1 win over Wigan and a 4-1 thrashing of Peterborough.
The result maintains Huddersfield's excellent form, with the side now unbeaten in five games and on a four-match winning run. They have taken 28 points from 13 matches, with their goals coming after an average of just 23 minutes of play this season. The win at Valley Parade stays as league leaders, having accrued 28 points from eight wins and four draws this season. Their strong form is built on a potent attack that has scored 27 goals while conceding only 11. Top scorer Joe Taylor, who netted his eighth goal of the campaign in the derby, will be a key figure as the team prepares for its next challenge.
