Derensili Sanches Fernandes was the standout performer as Huddersfield Town claimed a 3-1 victory at Burton Albion on Saturday. The win lifts the Terriers to third in the League One standings with 15 points from eight games, just one point behind leaders Plymouth Argyle.

Sanches Fernandes opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, finishing a sharp move. Burton's Finn Delap levelled just after the half-hour, but the Terriers restored their lead before the break. Sanches Fernandes turned provider, setting up Bali Mumba to fire home his first goal for the club in the 39th minute. Ashley Fletcher sealed the points with a third goal midway through the second half.

Manager Martin Drury praised his team's battling spirit. "Our Men’s First Team battled their way to a 3-1 win over Burton Albion, with goals from Derensili Sanches Fernandes, Bali Mumba, and Ashley Fletcher sealing all three Sky Bet League One points," he said.

The result continues a solid start to the campaign, with the team's recent form reading two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five matches.

Huddersfield now prepare for a top-of-the-table clash at the John Smith's Stadium next weekend. They host fourth-placed Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, 10 October.
