Huddersfield Town boss Martin Drury named League One manager of the month

Huddersfield Town manager Martin Drury has been named the EFL's League One manager of the month for August. The 40-year-old guided his side to an unbeaten start, securing the award ahead of Sheffield Wednesday's Henrik Pedersen.

Drury's team sit second in League One with 12 points from six games, just one point behind the leaders. Their recent form reads DWDWW, with three wins and two draws from their last five matches. The award recognises a strong opening month that included a 3-1 win over Oxford United and a 2-1 victory at Cambridge United.

"Of course, it's lovely," Drury said. "I'm very grateful to the judges of it and to receive the reward." He was quick to deflect praise towards his players, particularly striker Joe Taylor, who scored three goals in August but missed out on the player of the month award to Sheffield Wednesday's Jamal Lowe. "I would have given it Joe," Drury stated. "Joe would have given it Joe! I think he's been brilliant and he should have been heavily considered for that."

Injury updates ahead of Mansfield

Drury also provided updates on four players ahead of Saturday's return fixture against Mansfield Town at the John Smith's Stadium. The sides played out a 0-0 draw just days ago, on September 12.

Defender Jack Whatmough has returned to training, while forward Samson Tovide is progressing well in his recovery. Full-back Lynden Gooch, who played on Tuesday, has now returned from injury. Midfielder Sean Roughan was also involved in training on the day of the report.
