Huddersfield Town has unveiled a new safe standing area in the South Stand at Accu Stadium, featuring a rail barrier and designated numbered positions for supporters. The continuous rail barrier spans each row of seats, designed to improve crowd management, reduce overcrowding risks, and create a safer environment for fans. The initiative marks Huddersfield's first step toward adopting safe standing, joining six other EFL League One clubs in the effort. Majestic Construction, the project’s contractor, has worked with the club since 2019, completing projects including a new press area, directors’ seats, and water stations. The partnership, renewed for the 2026/27 season, underscores their commitment to stadium upgrades.
Majestic Construction’s Lee Marsden emphasized the project’s significance as a lifelong Huddersfield supporter, highlighting safe standing’s balance of fan experience and safety. David Threlfall-Sykes, Huddersfield’s COO, praised the partnership, noting Majestic’s 30 years of experience and role in advancing stadium improvements. The safe standing area, now operational, reflects the club’s ongoing efforts to modernize Accu Stadium while prioritizing fan welfare. The rail barrier’s implementation ensures orderly seating, with each supporter assigned a numbered spot to prevent congestion.
