Huddersfield Town surrendered a two-goal lead in stoppage time to draw 2-2 with Sheffield Wednesday at the Accu Stadium. Archie Collins provided two assists but a late own goal and a penalty saw the Terriers drop two points.

Joe Taylor opened the scoring after 46 minutes, finishing from a Collins pass. Derensili Sanches Fernandes doubled the advantage midway through the second half, again set up by the influential Collins. The result leaves Huddersfield fourth in League One on 16 points after nine games.

Collapse in the closing stages

With the game seemingly won, Ibane Bowat turned the ball into his own net in the 88th minute. The drama escalated deep into added time when referee Edward Duckworth awarded a penalty for a high boot by Marcus Harness on Liam Cooper. Jamal Lowe converted the spot-kick in the 98th minute to complete the visitors' comeback.

Head coach Martin Drury praised Collins despite the disappointment. "He's a great person Archie, he's really, really good, really good footballer as we know," Drury said. Collins himself was left to reflect on a costly finish. "Obviously disappointed," the midfielder said. "The way the game went, I thought we were excellent for 60 minutes, and the game's 90, 100 minutes long, and there are things that we didn't do quite well, and got punished for it."

The draw extends Huddersfield's recent form to two wins, two draws and one loss from their last five matches. Taylor, who scored the opener, is the club's top scorer this season with six goals. The squad's current form and standings are detailed on our stats page.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen insisted his side deserved their point after the late comeback at the Accu Stadium. The Owls manager said, "We created more good chances, and we had the mentality to find a way, I think it was very deserved." The Terriers, who have scored 16 goals this season, remain fourth in League One, three points behind leaders Plymouth. They face that exact test next, travelling to Home Park on Saturday.

Head coach Martin Drury insisted his side must move forward with belief despite the late collapse. He told reporters, "No feeling sorry for ourselves whatsoever, we got what we deserved." Drury said his players had been outstanding for long periods against a side fancied for the title. The result leaves the Terriers, who have scored 16 goals this season, three points behind leaders Plymouth.
