Huddersfield Town Foundation partners with Rishworth School for elite youth football programme
Huddersfield Town Foundation has teamed up with Rishworth School to launch an elite football pathway for talented girls and boys aged 11-18. The programme, led by UEFA-licenced coaches, combines high-performance football training with academic excellence for both day and boarding students from Year 6 to Sixth Form.
The pathway is delivered by Dan Jarvis, Senior Education Manager at Huddersfield Town Foundation, and Andy Thomas, Director of Football at Rishworth School. Both bring extensive professional football expertise to the programme, which aims to develop not just technical ability but also character and long-term prospects. The school offers exceptional training facilities, including grass and 3G pitches, a MUGA pitch, indoor sports centre, gym, and swimming pool. Students will also train at Huddersfield Town’s professional facilities and gain exposure to club scouts.
Dan Jarvis, who oversees the programme, highlighted the unique opportunity it provides: “This partnership offers young players a genuine pathway that combines education and elite football. At Huddersfield Town Foundation, we are passionate about developing not only technical ability but also character, confidence, and long-term prospects.”
Andy Thomas added: “This partnership goes far beyond football performance. It’s about developing well-rounded individuals who are confident, resilient, and prepared for their future.”
The programme supports long-term progression beyond school through a partnership with the University of South Wales, offering degree pathways in football coaching, sports development, and sports business. This initiative comes as Huddersfield Town looks to build on their 2025 League One performance, finishing 9th with 67 points (18W-13D-15L), scoring 74 goals and conceding 64 (+10 goal difference), ending 36 points behind leaders Lincoln.
