Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of Portsmouth defender Ibane Bowat on a three-year contract. The 23-year-old Scotland Under-21 international joins for an undisclosed fee, bolstering the Terriers' defensive options ahead of the new League One season.
Bowat began his career in the academies of Chelsea and Fulham before moving abroad to play in the Netherlands and Austria. He joined Portsmouth in 2024, where he made 17 league appearances and scored twice. His experience in different leagues adds depth to Huddersfield's squad.
Manager Martin Drury praised Bowat as a "positive addition" to the squad, highlighting his age and development potential. The signing strengthens the defence as Huddersfield aim for promotion back to the Championship. Bowat could make his debut in the Carabao Cup first-round tie against Preston North End on Saturday.
After settling into his new club, Bowat will look to establish himself as a key player in Huddersfield's defence. His versatility and experience at different clubs could prove valuable as the Terriers navigate a competitive League One campaign.
