Huddersfield Town's loan of Cameron Humphreys has come to an end as Ipswich Town confirms a contract extension for the midfielder. Humphreys joined Huddersfield in January after limited playing time at Ipswich, where he made just three appearances in the Championship before his loan. During his time with the Terriers, he made 21 league appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists, although the club finished ninth in the league and missed out on the play-offs.

The loan move was significant for Humphreys, allowing him to gain valuable experience under the management of Lee Grant, who had previously coached him at Ipswich. However, Grant's tenure at Huddersfield was short-lived, as he was dismissed just nine days after Humphreys arrived. Despite the managerial changes, Humphreys expressed that Huddersfield reminded him of Ipswich in many ways, citing the strong squad and top-class facilities.

Ipswich Town has now opted to extend Humphreys' contract by 12 months, which means they can command a fee if they choose to sell him. With Ipswich's promotion to the Premier League, competition for places will be tougher, and it remains to be seen whether Humphreys will stay at Portman Road or go out on loan again to further his development. The club is currently in talks regarding other players, but Humphreys' future will be closely monitored as he looks to make an impact in the coming season.
